An intense gun battle is currently taking place in the Baji Mall forests of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir. According to reports, several soldiers, including an officer, have been injured in the encounter, which is still ongoing. The operation was launched by the army’s special forces and the police based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
Over the past few years, the Pir Panjal forest in Jammu and Kashmir has posed a significant challenge for the security forces due to a series of encounters. The terrorists have been utilizing the dense forests as hiding spots, taking advantage of the difficult terrain. Treacherous mountains, dense jungles, and alpine forests have enabled them to conceal their positions effectively.
Just last week, a terrorist was killed during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) conducted by a joint team of the army, police, and CRPF in the Guller-Behrote area of Budhal tehsil.
