Controversy Arises as US Joins Israel in Gaza Hospital Incursion

San Francisco: The White House has expressed its concern for the safety of hospitals and patients after Israel sent troops into Gaza’s largest hospital, Al-Shifa. A spokesperson from the National Security Council stated that hospitals and the people inside them “must be protected.” They added that the White House does not support airstrikes on hospitals and does not want to see innocent and sick people caught in the crossfire. The statement was made following a phone call between US President Joe Biden and Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu, which focused on freeing hostages held by Hamas. Al-Shifa hospital has been at the center of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, with thousands of patients, staff, and displaced civilians seeking refuge inside the complex.
