Discovery Plus Introduces Ad-Free Subscription Option at $9 Monthly

Discovery Plus, a streaming service offered by Warner Bros. Discovery, is increasing its price. Starting Tuesday, the ad-free plan will cost $9 per month in the US, which is a $2 increase from its previous price. The ad-supported plan will remain at $5 per month. Existing subscribers will see the price increase on their next billing cycle after November 2.

Warner Bros. Discovery stated that the price increase will allow them to continue delivering compelling content in genres such as food, home, relationships, true crime, and the paranormal. This is the first time the monthly subscription price in the US has been raised since the service launched in 2021. Other streaming services like Disney Plus, Hulu, Peacock, and Paramount Plus have also raised their prices this year.

Although Discovery Plus is a standalone streaming service, much of its content is now available on Max, the revamped streaming service that replaced HBO Max. Max combines Discovery Plus titles with the former HBO Max, showcasing the extensive Warner Bros. Discovery catalog. Max is priced at $10 per month with ads or $16 per month for the ad-free option.

In addition, Max is introducing live sports for US customers starting Thursday. Subscribers can access the sports package for an extra $10 per month, but there is a promotional period until February 29 where sports can be streamed at no extra cost.
