During the Trump civil fraud trial in Manhattan, Donald Trump, Jr. spent 90 minutes on the witness stand, displaying a guarded demeanor while protecting his father. Dressed in a dark suit, blue shirt, and pale pink tie, he cracked a few jokes before his testimony began. When asked about the pronunciation of “revocable,” he gamely played along, stating that “REV-ocable” is easier to say. Throughout the fast-paced questioning by Colleen Faherty, a lawyer for Letitia James, the state attorney general, Trump Jr. consistently defended his father. James accuses the former president of exaggerating the value of Trump Organization assets in annual net-worth statements. Trump Jr. also clarified that his father had no decision-making authority at the Trump Organization during his time in the White House. Ivanka Trump, who was initially a defendant in the case, was removed from the trial by an appellate court. The court determined that she had ceased working for the Trump Organization when she joined her father’s administration. Donald Trump Jr., as a vice president at the company, had signed off on many fraudulent net-worth statements. The trial is set to continue with Eric Trump testifying next, followed by Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump in the subsequent week.
