A car crash on the bridge connecting New York state and Ontario at Niagra Falls has resulted in the death of two individuals and led to the closure of four US-Canada border crossings. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, caused a security scare in the area. A video capturing the exact moment of the crash has emerged online.
According to CNN, the footage shows a speeding car colliding with a curb and guardrail, causing the vehicle to become airborne and land in a secondary screening area. The driver, who was accompanied by his wife in a Bentley, had initially planned to attend a KISS concert in Canada. However, due to its cancellation, the couple instead decided to visit a casino in the US. The crash took place after leaving the casino.
Initial concerns arose that the crash could be a terrorist attack. However, New York Governor Kathy Hochul and US Attorney Trini Ross reassured the public that there was no indication of terrorism involvement. The FBI also confirmed that their investigation at the scene found no terrorism nexus or explosive materials.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, emphasizing that it occurred on the eve of the Thanksgiving holiday, a busy travel period for Americans.
