As spring approaches, it brings with it crucial matches and an in-form Erling Haaland. The Norwegian striker showcased his prowess during the 5th round FA Cup match won by Manchester City against Luton (6-2), an 18th ranked team in the Premier League. Haaland, playing for the Skyblues, shredded the defense of the underdogs, scoring an impressive five goals in 58 minutes.
Haaland opened the scoring in the 3rd minute and added another 15 minutes later, virtually securing Manchester City’s advancement. His teammate Kevin de Bruyne provided the assists for both goals. This dynamic duo is already causing jitters amongst European defenses as the Champions League quarter-finals draw closer. The English champions are likely to participate, given their first leg victory in the round of 16 against Copenhagen.
Before the halftime whistle, both Haaland and de Bruyne completed their hat-tricks, with another assist from the Belgian.
After halftime, Haaland continued his onslaught against one of the Premier League’s weakest defenses, with de Bruyne remaining his steadfast provider. The Belgian provided his fourth assist, and Haaland achieved his fourth goal.
Bernardo Silva was the one to assist Haaland in achieving his fifth goal of the match.
This isn’t the first time Haaland has scored five goals in a match. He achieved this feat in March of last year against Leipzig in the Champions League. Despite an injury that kept him off the field between December and January, Haaland managed to score 27 goals in the 2023-2024 season, including the five from this match.
