Following Rashmika Mandanna’s Video, Deepfake Image of Katrina Kaif in ‘Tiger 3’ Goes Viral

Days after a deepfake video of Rashmika Mandanna shocked the film fraternity, a digitally altered image of Katrina Kaif from her upcoming film ‘Tiger 3′ has surfaced online. The original picture shows the Bollywood star fighting a Hollywood stuntwoman clad in a towel. However, in the now-viral edited version, Ms. Kaif is seen wearing a low-cut white top and matching bottoms instead of the towel. The image has been altered using AI tools that can manipulate and replace individuals’ faces in videos and pictures, often leading to misleading or fabricated content.

The deepfake picture of Katrina Kaif has garnered strong reactions on social media. One user wrote, “Katrina Kaif’s towel scene from Tiger 3 gets morphed. The deepfake picture is garnering attention and it’s really shameful. Using AI to morph women is an outright criminal offense. Feels disgusted.” Another user expressed concern about the use of deepfake technology, saying, “Deepfake is really scary! I need to take precautions, I think!”

This incident comes after Rashmika Mandanna’s deepfake video, in which a woman’s face was morphed and edited to resemble the actor, went viral. The spread of such “unreliable” information on the internet has raised questions about the rapid dissemination of disinformation. Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan has called for legal action against the circulation of morphed videos. Rashmika Mandanna herself has described the situation as “extremely scary.”

In response to these incidents, the Indian government has sent a reminder to social media platforms to enforce rules and regulations regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence to spread disinformation. The concern over deepfake technology and its potential to manipulate and deceive has prompted authorities to take action to address the issue.
