Apple has released a new software update, iOS 17.0.3, to address overheating issues reported by iPhone 15 Pro users. The update includes security updates and bug fixes, specifically targeting the issue that causes iPhones to run hot. This update comes in response to complaints shared online about the overheating problem and the discomfort it caused when holding the device.
According to Apple, the overheating complaints were a result of a software bug in iOS 17, rather than a flaw in the physical design of the iPhone 15 Pro. The company also acknowledged that recent updates to third-party apps like Instagram and Uber could have contributed to the issue.
To download the update, users can go to Settings > General > Software Update and tap Install Now. Following the onscreen prompts will complete the installation process. Additionally, there are some simple steps users can take to cool down their phones.
It’s worth noting that this patch release comes shortly after Apple released iOS 17.1 beta 2.
