In the upcoming IPL 2024 auction, several top cricketers have set their base prices in the highest bracket of Rs 2 crore. Among them are Australia’s World Cup heroes Travis Head, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc, along with out-of-favour India pacer Harshal Patel. The auction is scheduled to take place in Dubai on December 19.
Franchises have received a list of 1166 players who have registered for the auction. Out of the 77 slots available, 30 will be for overseas players. The total spending limit for the 10 teams combined is Rs 262.95 crore.
New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, who impressed everyone with his batting during the World Cup, has set his base price at Rs 50 lakh. However, it is expected that he will go for at least 15 to 20 times more than his base price.
Surprisingly, former India batter Kedar Jadhav, who is considered past his prime, has also kept his base price at Rs 2 crore. Another player in this bracket is Umesh Yadav, whose Test career for India seems to be fading.
Other notable players in the highest price bracket include Jos Inglis, who recently scored his maiden T20 hundred against India, former skipper Steve Smith, and pacer Josh Hazlewood. South Africa’s new pace bowling sensation Gerald Coetzee and Rassie van der Dussen are also expected to attract high bids.
Wanindu Hasaranga, one of the world’s top T20 wrist spinners and recently released by RCB, has set his base price at Rs 1.5 crore.
The IPL 2024 auction promises to be an exciting event with these top players commanding high prices.
