Iran Urges India to Utilize Full Potential in Ceasing Israel’s Offensive on Gaza

Iran Urges India to Use its Influence to End Israel’s Assault on Gaza

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to utilize “all its capacities” to put an end to the Israeli actions in Gaza amid the ongoing conflict. During their phone conversation, Raisi highlighted India’s historical struggles against Western colonialism and its position as a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement.

In a statement, the Iranian President stated, “Today, India is expected to use all its capacities to end the Zionist crimes against the oppressed people of Gaza.” He further emphasized Tehran’s support for any global joint effort to achieve an immediate ceasefire, lift the blockade, and provide aid to the people of Gaza.

Raisi condemned the killing of innocent women and children, as well as the attacks on hospitals, schools, mosques, churches, and residential areas, labeling them as “condemned and unacceptable.” He asserted that Palestinian resistance groups have a legitimate right to confront the occupation by the Israeli regime, calling on all countries to support their struggle for freedom from oppression.

Additionally, Raisi described Iran’s relationship with India as “strategic” and emphasized the need for planning the development of cooperation and compensating for any delays in this field. He highlighted the importance of the North-South Corridor and urged India to make “serious investments” to strengthen sustainable economic cooperation, particularly in the Chabahar Port.

Prime Minister Modi, on the other hand, stressed the importance of preventing further escalation, ensuring the provision of humanitarian aid, and restoring peace and stability in the region. Both leaders welcomed the progress in bilateral cooperation, including the advancements made in the Chabahar port project.

Since Israel declared war on Hamas following the latter’s attacks in southern Israel, Prime Minister Modi has been engaging in regular telephone conversations with world leaders. Earlier, he spoke with the UAE President expressing concerns over the escalating situation and loss of civilian lives. Similarly, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar discussed the Israel-Hamas war with his Iranian counterpart, emphasizing the need to prevent further escalation and provide humanitarian support.
