Israel’s Advanced Armoured Anti-Missile Vehicle Deployed to Gaza Frontline Ahead of Planned Timeline

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have deployed a new armoured vehicle to the front line in Gaza ahead of schedule. The Eitan personnel carrier, capable of shooting down incoming missiles, was used in combat against Hamas terrorists during the Battle of Zikim on October 7. The vehicle was able to reach speeds of 75 mph, exceeding its claimed top speed of 56 mph. The Eitan, armed with a 30mm turret and fitted with armor from Israel’s Merkava tanks, is one of the most advanced armoured vehicles in the world. It features the Iron Fist active protection system, which can detect and intercept enemy anti-tank rockets and missiles. The Eitan is designed to replace the aging US-made M113 APC used by Israel. Israeli forces have surrounded Gaza City and are aiming to capture the al-Shifa hospital, which is believed to house Hamas fighters and weapon manufacturing sites. The IDF’s ground operation has utilized tanks, armoured vehicles, fighter jets, helicopters, and drones. According to estimates, Israel has lost 132 vehicles, including 15 Merkava tanks, during the conflict.
