ISRO Plans 10 Key Missions in 2024, Parliament Informed

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has announced its plans for 10 key missions in 2024, according to a statement made in the Rajya Sabha by Minister of State in the PMO Jitendra Singh. These missions include six launches of the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), three launches of the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV), and one commercial mission of the Launch Vehicle Mark-3.

In addition to these launches, ISRO will also carry out a technology demonstration satellite launch using its newest launch vehicle, the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV). This satellite launch will be the third developmental flight of the SSLV.

Under the Gaganyaan programme, ISRO plans to undertake two unmanned missions to validate the human-rated launch vehicle and the orbital module. Furthermore, multiple sub-orbital missions using a test vehicle will be conducted to validate the Gaganyaan Crew Escape System under various abort conditions.

ISRO has also scheduled two autonomous runway landing experiments for its winged body Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV). Additionally, the agency will put into orbit the GSAT 20 communication satellite through a procured launch under a commercial contract by NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).

The PSLV missions will include the launch of a space science satellite, an Earth observation satellite, two technology demonstration missions, and two commercial missions by NSIL. The GSLV missions, on the other hand, will launch a meteorology satellite, a Navigation satellite, and a joint NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar satellite. The commercial mission by NSIL will be carried out using the Launch Vehicle Mark-3.
