Kari Luoto – Talous Named New CEO of Trade Association

Recently, Kari Luoto was selected as the new CEO of the trade association by the organization’s board. Currently, Luoto is serving as the CEO of Päivittäitavarakauppa ry.

Luoto is set to assume his new role on the 2nd of April. The current CEO, Mari Kiviniemi, who is also a former prime minister and chairman of the center, had previously stated her plan to vacate the position at the start of April.

Jorma Rauhala, CEO of Kesko and Chairman of the Finnish Trade Union’s Board of Directors, expressed his confidence in Luoto’s ability. He appreciated Luoto’s versatile expertise and experience in leadership roles in the trade and industry sectors. He believes Luoto’s strong record of achievement will provide excellent opportunities for enhancing the trading industry’s operational conditions, social importance, and foster a responsible, flexible working environment.

Luoto has been serving as the CEO of Päivittäistavarakaupa since 2012. His past experience includes roles as the marketing director of Suomen Lähikauppa and Tradeka. Luoto expressed his enthusiasm for the new task.

Luoto voiced his readiness to apply his skills and experience for the success of the entire trade industry. He acknowledged the challenges faced by Finnish trade amidst harsh international competition and an uncertain economic environment, which impact both consumers and businesses. He believes the trade industry plays a crucial role in Finnish society, and its viewpoints should be widely considered and respected.
