Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Rode, who was known as the nephew of Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, passed away in Pakistan on December 2 due to a heart attack, according to sources in intelligence agencies. Rode, who was 72 years old, had fled to Pakistan following Bhindranwale’s death.
Rode held the position of the leader of the banned organization called ‘Khalistan Zindabad Force’ and was allegedly involved in terrorist activities against India. Intelligence agencies have revealed that he had been residing in Lahore.
Sources have claimed that Rode was involved in smuggling drugs, weapons, explosives, and tiffin bombs into Punjab. He was also suspected of planning the assassination of prominent individuals in the state.
In the past, Rode was arrested in Nepal with 20 kg of explosives known as RDX, which he confessed to bringing from Pakistan.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids in October in Punjab’s Moga, seizing properties related to Rode. These raids were conducted in connection with six terror cases against Rode, involving his participation in terror activities between 2021 and 2023.
