Madhya Pradesh MLA Takes Bike On Loan In Order To Reach Assembly

Newly-elected MLA Kamleshwar Dodiyar of the Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) faced a transportation challenge when he couldn’t secure a car to get to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly in Bhopal. Not one to be deterred, Dodiyar decided to borrow his brother-in-law’s motorcycle and make the 330-kilometer journey to the state capital. He even live-streamed his ride on social media.

Dodiyar, the sole MLA representing his party, won the Sailana constituency in Ratlam district during the November 17 elections. Despite his attempts to arrange for a car, he was unsuccessful and had to rely on the borrowed bike. To highlight his status as an MLA, he attached a sticker with the word “MLA” on it.

After braving the chilly weather, Dodiyar arrived in Bhopal on Wednesday night. As a guest, he found accommodation at the MLA Rest House. The next day, he paid his respects to the assembly’s entry gate before presenting his credentials as an MLA to the officials.

Before embarking on his journey, Dodiyar took to social media and tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and Ratlam police. He requested necessary security measures to ensure a safe trip.

Dodiyar comes from a humble background, belonging to a family of poor laborers. Unable to afford a four-wheeler, he had to borrow money to finance his election campaign. Despite the challenges, he managed to defeat the incumbent Congress MLA Harsh Vijay Gehlot by 4,618 votes.

Out of the 230-member assembly, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 163 seats, the Congress won 66 seats, and the BAP claimed the remaining seat.
