Hamburg police took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to inform the public about the ongoing major police operation on the tarmac. The airport also announced on its website that take-offs and landings were temporarily suspended due to a police operation.
According to German media, the armed man drove through the security area onto the tarmac and fired shots into the air. The vehicle reportedly contained two children, and it was revealed that the children’s mother had contacted the police about a possible kidnapping just moments before the incident.
