Mother Hospitalized After Teen Boys’ ‘Prank’ at Target Turns Out to Be More Than Just Harmless

A California mom had a terrifying experience during a trip to Target last spring that resulted in her being hospitalized. Lana Clay-Monaghan was shopping for summer clothes for her twin boys when she suddenly felt something come over her. It turned out to be a bucket that was placed over her head by a group of boys who were filming her reaction. Clay-Monaghan tried to free herself but was unable to catch her breath. She eventually managed to remove the bucket and saw the boys laughing and recording her. She attempted to shout for help but couldn’t due to her epilepsy. She fell to the ground and hit her head, losing consciousness. The Tustin Police Department later reported that the incident was likely an attempt to replicate a social media trend where a bucket is placed on a stranger’s head. Clay-Monaghan was transported to a hospital and was found to have an acute heart issue. Target expressed their concern for the victim and stated that they take harassment seriously and are cooperating with the police investigation.
