In Ocala, Florida, a police chase came to an end near a Starbucks when a suspect attempted to carjack a woman. However, a man in the neighboring car bravely intervened and apprehended the suspect until the authorities arrived. Shane Spicer, who had just woken up and lived only a mile away from the Starbucks, recounted the incident. While Spicer was waiting for his coffee, the police were engaged in a high-speed pursuit with a dangerous suspect. The suspect, identified as Michael Prouty, had allegedly broken into someone’s home and stolen their car before crashing at a busy intersection.

As Prouty attempted to flee on foot, he sprinted toward the Starbucks where Spicer was waiting. Spicer noticed the suspect’s suspicious behavior and witnessed him forcefully removing a woman from her car in an attempt to carjack her. Acting on instinct, Spicer jumped into the passenger seat of the car in an effort to prevent Prouty from escaping.

Spicer, an Army veteran, was determined not to let Prouty slip away again. Demonstrating his resolve, he firmly told the suspect, “I’m going to get you, buddy! You’re not going anywhere now! You crossed the line!” Dashcam footage captured Prouty’s unsuccessful carjacking attempt, with Spicer bravely intervening.

Body camera footage later revealed Spicer firmly holding onto Prouty until the police officers arrived to arrest him. Although several individuals were injured in the crash, Spicer managed to emerge from the incident with only a slight loss of breath. Notably, his girlfriend and young daughter were present in the car during the entire ordeal.

Reflecting on his actions, Spicer expressed his belief that people should always look out for one another. He hoped that others would do the same for his family if they were ever in a similar situation.
