Police Arrest Mother for Hacking 15-Year-Old Daughter to Death over Love Affair in UP

A woman in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly hacking her 15-year-old daughter to death due to her disapproval of her relationship with a boy, according to the police. The incident occurred when the woman, named Shivpati, killed her daughter with an axe and disposed of her body in a well with the help of other family members. She then filed a complaint at the Manjhanpur police station, claiming that her daughter had been kidnapped. An abduction case was registered based on her complaint and an investigation was initiated.

However, on October 26, villagers discovered the body of a girl in a well in a field outside Tejvapur village. Shivpati identified the body as her daughter’s, leading the police to add a charge of murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. As the investigation progressed, evidence started pointing towards Shivpati as the main suspect. Consequently, she was arrested for the murder, while her other minor daughter was also apprehended. Shivpati’s daughter-in-law, Meera, is currently evading arrest, and authorities are making efforts to locate her.

During interrogation, Shivpati confessed to the police that she had warned her daughter against continuing her relationship with a boy from their village, but the girl refused to comply. In an attempt to divert suspicion, Shivpati filed a kidnapping case. The police have recovered the axe, stick, and sack used in the murder based on information provided by Shivpati.
