Police Charge Indian Student for US Triple Murder of Family

A 23-year-old Indian student has been arrested and charged with the murder of his grandparents and uncle in a New Jersey condominium, according to police and US media reports. The suspect, Om Brahmbhatt, allegedly shot Dilipkumar Brahmbhatt, Bindu Brahmbhatt, and Yashkumar Brahmbhatt. The South Plainfield Police Department and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office responded to a neighbor’s report of gunshots at the Traditions condo complex. Upon arrival, officers discovered the three victims, two men and a woman, who had suffered gunshot wounds. Dilipkumar and Bindu Brahmbhatt were found dead, while Yashkumar Brahmbhatt was taken to the hospital and later died. Om, who had recently moved to New Jersey and lived with the victims, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with three counts of first-degree murder and second-degree weapon possession. He is currently detained at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center. The motive for the shooting remains unclear. Neighbors reported previous police calls to the condo, including a domestic violence incident. The Traditions apartment complex, which is home to many Indian immigrant families, has extensive security camera coverage.
