Racist Mob Does Not Represent FC Bayern’s Values

FC Bayern Munich expressed strong condemnation of racist comments directed at defender Dayot Upamecano on social media after their Champions League loss to Lazio. CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen addressed the issue in his banquet speech, expressing his disgust at the online racist comments.

Dreesen made it clear that this sort of behavior is not representative of FC Bayern and will not be tolerated. His words were met with applause. The foul that led to these comments resulted in the decisive goal for Lazio.

The club reiterated its stance against such offensive comments on social media, pledging support for Upamecano.

Upamecano’s foul in the game led to the only goal, scored by Ciro Immobile. Upamecano was later shown a red card for a separate incident involving Lazio’s Gustav Isaksen. Following the game, Upamecano faced a barrage of racist insults on his Instagram profile.
