Rahul Gandhi’s Plane in Kochi Left in Limbo as Authorities Neither Grant Landing Approval Nor Deny it, says Official

The Union Defence Ministry has clarified that they neither granted nor denied landing permission for an aircraft carrying Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at the Naval airport in Kochi. This statement comes after the Congress alleged that the Ministry of Defence denied landing permission for Gandhi’s chartered flight at the Naval facility. The defence spokesperson stated that the request for an unscheduled chartered flight was received at INS Garuda air station in Kochi at 09.40 am on Friday, with takeoff scheduled from Kannur Airport at 10.45 am. However, due to the delayed request and lack of time, clearance for the flight could not be processed. Earlier, the Ernakulam DCC president claimed that the Defence Ministry initially granted permission for landing at the Naval facility but later withdrew it. As a result, the aircraft was redirected to the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) in Nedumbassery.
