Ranbir Kapoor’s Blockbuster Film Shows No Signs of Slowing Down

Ranbir Kapoor’s film “Animal” is continuing its successful run at the box office, with trade analyst Taran Adarsh predicting a “glorious total” for its first week in theaters. On Wednesday, the film earned Rs 27.80 crore in ticket sales, bringing the domestic box office total to over Rs 278 crore. The regional versions of the film also contributed a couple of crores on Wednesday. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, “Animal” stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol in key roles.

Taran Adarsh shared the box office numbers on social media: “Animal continues its smashing run. A glorious total in Week 1 is assured, the numbers in Weekend 2 will give an idea of its lifetime total. Friday 54.75 cr, Saturday 58.37 cr, Sunday 63.46 cr, Monday 40.06 cr, Tuesday 34.02 cr, Wednesday 27.80 cr. Total: Rs 278.46 cr. Hindi version. Nett BOC.” He also provided the regional score: “Animal [South Indian languages] Friday 9.05 cr, Saturday 8.90 cr, Sunday 7.23 cr, Monday 4.41 cr, Tuesday 3.80 cr, Wednesday 2.65 cr. Total: Rs 36.04 cr. Nett BOC. All languages total: Rs 314.50 cr Nett BOC.”

In a previous post, Taran Adarsh declared that “Animal” is “unstoppable” and mentioned that the Hindi version collected Rs 34.02 crore on day 5. He also highlighted that “Animal” has become the fastest film to reach the Rs 250-crore benchmark, surpassing movies like “Jawan,” “Pathaan,” “Baahubali 2,” and “Gadar 2.” Taran Adarsh wrote, “‘ANIMAL’ IS UNSTOPPABLE… Animal is 250 NOT OUT… Racing towards ₹300 cr… Refuses to slow down on weekdays…”

However, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave “Animal” a review of 1.5 stars, criticizing its portrayal of a son going to extreme measures to protect his family. Chatterjee wrote, “Animal is the kind of film that would have us believe that it is no big deal for a loving son to go berserk when it comes to tackling those who threaten the well-being of his dad and his two sisters. Since danger seems to lurk over the family at every corner, he has the license to be as boorish as he wants to be.” Chatterjee also commented on the protagonist’s behavior in love, saying, “Even in love, there is no room for niceties for this my-way-or-the-highway guy. He does not so much as fall in love as make a grab for it. He does not propose marriage. He literally demands it.”
