Hardik Pandya Set to Join Mumbai Indians from Gujarat Titans in Record-breaking IPL Trade
Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is on the verge of leaving his current team, Gujarat Titans (GT), and rejoining his former franchise, Mumbai Indians, for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), according to ESPNcricinfo. This potential trade is set to make history as the biggest player trade in IPL history, with Mumbai Indians reportedly paying 15 crore rupees as Pandya’s salary and an undisclosed transfer fee to Titans.
If the deal goes through, the 30-year-old all-rounder stands to earn up to 50% of the transfer fee, making it a lucrative move for him. However, neither franchise has made an official announcement regarding the trade at this time.
Hardik Pandya played a crucial role in leading the Gujarat-based franchise to victory in the 2022 season of the IPL, where they clinched the title. He was also awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ in the final game against Rajasthan Royals. In the previous edition of the tournament, Gujarat Titans secured their place in the IPL final for the second time in their first two seasons but lost to Chennai Super Kings, finishing as runners-up.
If the trade is successful, Pandya will become the third captain to be traded in IPL history. The first was Ravichandran Ashwin, who moved from Punjab Kings to Delhi Capitals, followed by Ajinkya Rahane’s transfer from Rajasthan Royals to the Capitals in 2020.
Since his debut in the 2015 season, Hardik Pandya has played 123 matches, taking 53 wickets and scoring 2309 runs at a strike rate of 139.89. His all-round skills and experience make him a valuable addition to any team.
