Republican Congressman Tim Burchett of Tennessee has accused former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy of elbowing him and engaging in a chase through a Capitol hallway. NPR reporter Claudia Grisales took to Twitter to express her shock, stating that she had never witnessed such behavior on Capitol Hill. Grisales recounted how McCarthy forcefully pushed Burchett while she was conducting an interview, which led to a confrontation and a subsequent chase. McCarthy denied the allegations, claiming that he did not elbow Burchett. However, Grisales recalled Burchett shouting at McCarthy, questioning his actions and referring to them as cowardly. Burchett later told Politico that he ran after McCarthy and confronted him about the incident, to which McCarthy denied any wrongdoing. Burchett referred to McCarthy as a “jerk” and suggested he return to Southern California. Burchett also mentioned feeling the impact of the incident, describing it as a direct hit to his kidney. McCarthy, on the other hand, maintained his innocence, citing the narrow hallway as a reason for the alleged contact.
