As reported by the renowned international news agency AFP, the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallaksen, has been announced as wanted by Russia. This news has been further corroborated by the Russian news agency, Interfax.
The source of this information is believed to be Mediazona, who made this public after extracting data from the database of the Ministry of the Interior. The data reveals the presence of at least four Finnish names on the same list of wanted individuals.
Interestingly, some of the Finnish individuals listed are known to be volunteers currently fighting alongside the Ukrainian armed forces. Mediazona has further speculated that the list could contain as many as six Finnish individuals.
In addition to Kajas Kallaksen, the list also includes other notable politicians, such as the State Secretary of Estonia Taimar Peterkop, amongst others.
The search notices for Kallas and Peterkop, according to Russian sources, were issued under the provisions of the Criminal Code.
An official source, speaking to the Russian news agency Tassi, has mentioned that the alleged crimes of these individuals are related to the destruction and damage of Soviet-era monuments. It is worth noting that several such monuments, erected during the Soviet Union period, were removed by Estonia in 2022.
According to Nexta, it is not just politicians who are on this list, but several high-ranking officials of the Ukrainian army as well.
Mediazona, the source of this news, is a reputed investigative journalism network operating within Russia.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
