Russia Lists Journalist Evgeni Kiselev as a Terrorist

Evgeni Kiselev, a notable journalist, has been added to the list of terrorists by the Russian authorities this Thursday. This decision has been taken due to his alleged involvement in “extremist activities”. The authorities had already marked him on their list of individuals who are wanted and captured two years ago.

His name has now been incorporated in the list maintained by the Federal Service for Financial Supervision (Rosfinmonitoring). This action has resulted in the freezing of his funds and assets within the country. This piece of information has been made public by the Russian news agency, Interfax. A case against him was initiated by the Russian courts because of his support for the Ukrainian Army.

Kiselev, who was born in Moscow in 1956, started his journey in journalism in 1984, with Radio Moscow. Over the years, he became a key figure in the country’s journalism sector. During the nineties, he used to host a weekly news program on the independent television network, NTV.

He was a strong critic of the government under Boris Yeltsin. He publicly condemned Vladimir Putin’s endeavors to constrain criticism after Putin assumed power. He decided to relocate to Ukraine in 2008. There, he has been hosting numerous television programs. He has also launched his own YouTube channel where he discusses a wide range of topics related to national and international politics.
