Shocking Revelation: UP Woman Reports Being Sold by Mother for Rs 4 Lakh to Haryana Man

An 18-year-old woman in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, has come forward with a shocking allegation against her mother. She claims that her mother sold her into a marriage with a man from Haryana for a sum of Rs 4 lakh. According to the police, the woman also stated that the man she was forced to marry subjected her to physical assault and coerced her into engaging in illegal activities.

The incident came to light when the woman approached the police on Wednesday. She hails from Mahesra, located in the Chiluatal Police Station area. The Superintendent of Police (North), Manoj Awasthi, confirmed the woman’s account, stating that she alleged being sold to a man from Haryana by her mother. The marriage allegedly took place at their residence on November 23, following a payment of Rs 4 lakh.

The police are currently investigating the allegations. The woman’s mother and other family members have denied the accusations, claiming they are false. However, the authorities are examining all aspects of the case. It is worth noting that the woman’s two elder sisters are also married in Haryana.
