Taylor Swift Generously Donates $100,000 to Family of Kansas City Shooting Victim

In a recent act of kindness, Taylor Swift has made a donation of $100,000, equivalent to 92,734 euros, to the grieving family of a woman who tragically lost her life in a shooting incident that occurred in Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday. The incident happened at the conclusion of a parade that was celebrating the victory of the Kansas City Chiefs, the Super Bowl champions. The team is closely associated with Travis Kelce, a person Swift is very fond of.

A fundraising campaign has been initiated online to support the family of Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan, the 43-year-old lady who was shot in the stomach during the incident and tragically died while undergoing emergency surgery. As per the updates on the website around 8 p.m. Belgian time on Friday, a total of 266,267 dollars (equivalent to 246,921 euros) has been gathered by more than 3,100 contributors. Among the donations, two generous donations of $50,000 each were made under the name of Taylor Swift. A representative from Swift’s team verified to Variety magazine that the donations were indeed from the singer herself.

The Kansas City Chiefs managed to retain their Super Bowl title on Sunday, however, the spotlight of the evening was taken by Swift who was present at the field. Swift took a brief pause from her successful global tour, The Eras Tour, to cheer for Kelce. Ever since Swift’s association with the team became public, the National Football League (NFL) has seen a significant increase in its popularity. The Super Bowl on Sunday even became the second most-watched television program in American history, only behind the 1969 moon landing.

Charges Against Two Minors

Two minors have also been implicated in the shooting. NBC News reports that these charges are related to weapons and resisting arrest. More charges are likely to follow as the investigation by the police is still underway. Initially, a total of three people were arrested in connection with the incident. However, one of the suspects was later released as they were found to be not involved.
