Tragic Incident in Gujarat: Report Reveals 5 Fatalities Linked to Contaminated Ayurvedic Syrup

At least five individuals have tragically lost their lives in Gujarat’s Kheda district after consuming a contaminated ayurvedic syrup, which was found to contain methyl alcohol. Two others have been hospitalized due to suspected consumption of the syrup. The incident occurred in Bilodara village near Nadiad town, where a shopkeeper sold the syrup over the counter to approximately 50 people.

According to preliminary investigations, the ayurvedic syrup, known as ‘Kalmeghasav – Asava Arishta,’ was found to be tainted with methyl alcohol. The Kheda Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Gadhiya, stated that a blood sample report from one of the villagers confirmed the presence of methyl alcohol in the syrup. This substance is highly toxic and can have severe health consequences if consumed.

Over the past two days, five individuals have tragically succumbed to the effects of consuming the contaminated syrup, while two others are currently undergoing medical treatment. As part of the ongoing investigation, three individuals, including the shopkeeper, have been detained for further questioning.

It is important to note that methyl alcohol is a poisonous substance that can cause serious harm to the human body. Authorities are working diligently to determine the source of contamination and prevent any further incidents.
