Woman Injured After Falling Out Of Window During XL Bully Attack in the UK

A couple in the United Kingdom suffered serious injuries in a suspected American bully XL attack. The incident occurred in Mansfield on Friday, where the woman fell out of a window during the attack. Both victims were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries after authorities received reports that the dog was still loose. Fortunately, their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

In response to the incident, the alleged bully XL dog was seized from a nearby property and taken to secure kennels. Nottinghamshire Police disclosed that they currently believe the woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, fell out of the window after being attacked by the dog.

A 38-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of allowing a dangerously out-of-control dog. The investigation is ongoing to determine the complete circumstances of the incident.

This incident follows the UK government’s decision to ban XL bully dogs from the end of this year due to a rise in fatal attacks. The breed has been added to the list of prohibited dogs under the Dangerous Dogs Act. Starting from February 1st next year, owning an XL bully dog will be illegal unless the owner has obtained an exemption.

Owners who do not comply with the ban will face criminal charges and an unlimited fine, unless their dog is on the exemption list and they meet specific requirements such as microchipping and neutering. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak had previously pledged to add the breed to the Dangerous Dogs Act list by the year’s end, citing the danger they pose to communities.

In a separate incident, a 10-month-old baby in the UK was seriously injured by a family dog last month. The normally “loving and affectionate” Cane Corso X attacked the baby in Hoyland, Barnsley, after the child started crying.
