Xiaomi 14 Ultra Unveiled, Promising Superior Cameras Compared to S24 Ultra

Lei Jun, the CEO and co-founder of Xiaomi, recently unveiled images of the company’s new flagship device on social media. The product will be officially launched on February 25th in Barcelona.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is set for a global launch on February 25th in Barcelona, while Chinese consumers will have a head start with the local launch scheduled for February 22nd. Lei Jun shared the first look of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra on social media, confirming the speculations that had been previously making the rounds. The images shared by Jun show that the device comes in either black or white/silver colours and will feature a synthetic leather back in place of the traditional glass back. The design also incorporates a metallic frame and a unique camera configuration with four lenses, one of which is a periscope camera. Even though there were rumours about a flat display, Xiaomi has clarified that the screen of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra will be only slightly curved. The images suggest that the screen could be 2.5D.

One of the standout features of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is its impressive camera system. Xiaomi has released additional details on the camera specifications: the primary camera is a 50MP LYT-900 with variable aperture that can go up to f/1.63. Apart from this, the phone also comes with a 3.2x 50MP camera and a 5x 50MP periscope camera, both equipped with IMX858 sensors and large apertures for telephoto shots. The periscope camera’s f/2.6 aperture is a significant upgrade from its predecessor and is wider than the 5x camera on the Samsung S24 Ultra, which suggests better image quality in low-light conditions.
