During a court hearing for Vitali GossJankowski, a 34-year-old man convicted of multiple offenses related to the Capitol Riot, a physical altercation erupted. GossJankowski, who had been allowed to remain free awaiting sentencing, faced a change in his circumstances as U.S. District Court Judge Paul Friedman ordered him to be locked up. The judge cited GossJankowski’s troubling and dangerous behavior of doxxing FBI employees on Instagram as the reason for this decision. GossJankowski, who is deaf, visibly showed his reaction to the judge’s ruling through moaning sounds, as an ASL interpreter relayed the message. As he was being taken into custody, GossJankowski attempted to flee the courtroom and in doing so, pushed agents, causing a podium and tables to topple over. Multiple federal officers had to intervene, pinning him to the ground in order to handcuff him and transfer him to a D.C. jail. The date for sentencing has yet to be scheduled.
