Tesla’s chief designer, Franz von Holzhausen, was recently seen driving a matte black Cybertruck in southern California. This new wrap adds to the various color schemes the unique vehicle has been spotted in. The Cybertruck has been photographed in camouflage and even disguised as a Ford F-150. Tesla has also introduced colored wraps for its Model 3 and Model Y, priced at $7,500 – $8,000. This suggests that the Cybertruck may also offer colored wraps for those who prefer a different look than its typical stainless steel finish.
However, some pictures of the highly anticipated vehicle have indicated that its metallic exterior may easily attract fingerprints. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has cautioned employees about the precision needed in manufacturing the sharp-edged design, stating that any dimensional variation would be noticeable. He emphasized the importance of precision in achieving perfectionism.
While the matte black option received praise from Tesla fans, with comparisons to a space ship and videos garnering thousands of likes, there were also critics. One post on Twitter, viewed over 1 million times, stated that the Cybertruck looks terrible in matte black as well. The same user shared a TikTok video of the vehicle accompanied by a mocking clown song.
After experiencing two years of delays, the first Cybertruck finally rolled off the production line in July. Musk revealed in an interview with Joe Rogan that Tesla aims to produce 200,000 Cybertrucks annually. The company has announced that the first deliveries will take place on November 30.
