A Southwest Airlines jet had to abort its landing at Denver International Airport on Friday due to dense fog covering the runway. Video footage captured the moment the pilot made the decision to ascend back into the air after the plane disappeared into the thick fog. The fog resulted in a ground stop, causing delays for nearly 200 flights. The specific flight affected was Southwest Flight 2731, which experienced reduced visibility on the runway. Fortunately, the plane landed safely about 40 minutes later when visibility improved. The National Weather Service reported that the dense fog reduced visibility in parts of the Denver Metro area to a quarter mile or less. Although the fog started to dissipate later in the morning, weather conditions remain a concern for travelers during the upcoming Thanksgiving week. Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph are expected in Colorado, particularly near Denver, which could lead to ground stops, delays, and turbulence at Denver International Airport. As one of the busiest travel weeks of the year, passengers flying to and from Denver should anticipate potential weather-related disruptions.
