Denmark Raises Alarm Over Potential Russian Attack on NATO Countries, Calls for Strengthened Air Defense

In a stern warning issued this Friday, the Minister of Defense of Denmark, Troels Lund Poulsen, drew attention to the prospect of a potential attack by Russia on NATO member countries. He highlighted the urgent need to fortify the air defense systems of these States to provide an effective deterrent against any such offensive maneuvers.

He emphasized the gravity of the situation by underlining the very real threat that this possibility holds, as reported by the Danish newspaper ‘Jyllands-Posten’. “The stark reality we must confront is that an attack on NATO by the Russians is no longer an abstract concept. The premise that such an event was unthinkable has been completely overturned in the present circumstances,” he stated.

He further pointed out that while earlier discussions revolved around Russia’s “intentions” to orchestrate such a move, the focus has now shifted to the likelihood of such plans being actualized. This shift in perspective is owing to Russia’s demonstrated “capacity” to “act swiftly” on its intentions, he cautioned.

“Denmark must be prepared for such a dramatic turn of events,” he firmly affirmed. In light of this, he stressed on the crucial need to prioritize investments in defense, reiterating that the circumstances are serious and warrant immediate action.
