Former US President Donald Trump has made a bold prediction, stating that he expects to receive a staggering 150 million votes from the public in the upcoming 2024 US presidential election. Speaking at a Fox News event in Davenport, Iowa, where the Republican Party’s nominating contest commences on January 15, Trump expressed his confidence before a supportive audience.

During the event, Trump emphasized the collective efforts of his supporters, saying, “We have never seen the likes of what we’ve all done together. It’s not just me, it is everybody here and millions and millions. I think it’s not 75 million people, I think it’s 150 million people, even more than that. Who doesn’t want to see strong borders and a strong military and low taxes and low interest rates and go out and buy a house?”

In addition to his optimistic electoral projection, Trump addressed concerns raised by Democrats and some Republicans about the risk of America turning into an autocracy under his leadership. He assured the audience that he would not become a dictator if he were to be re-elected as US president, except “on day one”. By this, he meant that he would exercise his presidential powers to close the southern border with Mexico and expand oil drilling.

However, he was questioned twice during a televised town hall event in Iowa about his intentions to seek revenge on his adversaries if given another term in office. Trump firmly denied any such ambitions, stating, “No. No. Other than day one.”

Despite facing potential criminal trials, including one for election subversion, Trump remains narrowly ahead in opinion polls.
