Donald Trump Triumphs in Missouri, Michigan and Idaho, Nikki Haley Steps Down

Donald Trump, the former US President, continues to assert his dominance in the internal elections of the Republican Party. As per local media reports, Trump has achieved victory in three new states – Missouri, Michigan, and Idaho – this Saturday. This series of victories is bringing him a step closer to the presidential nomination for the upcoming November election.

In the state of Missouri, Trump managed to overpower his competition, Nikki Haley, by winning in every caucus that took place, as reported by the New York Times. CNN reported that in Michigan, Trump secured the support of the 39 elected delegates at a caucus that saw the participation of around 2,000 activists. Earlier in the week, Trump had already won the remaining 16 delegates from Michigan in a primary election. In Idaho, the American press has reported that Trump won the 32 delegates who were elected at the caucus.

The elections held in Missouri, Michigan, and Idaho were a mix of internal elections with varying rules. These differences sometimes reflected disagreements and tension, but Trump’s influence remained undeterred. He has managed to win every primary so far. The Associated Press (AP) reports that Trump currently has 244 delegates, a significant lead over Nikki Haley’s 24 delegates. For a candidate to win the Republican nomination, they need to secure 1,215 delegates.

These recent victories occurred just three days before the much-anticipated “Super Tuesday” on March 5. This key event will see 15 states conduct their Democratic and Republican primaries simultaneously. Both Democratic President Joe Biden and Donald Trump are almost certain to receive nominations from their respective parties. Biden’s campaign is hoping that the gap between the two candidates will decrease in the most competitive states, as Trump’s eccentric behavior, unpredictable actions, and legal issues become more prominent in the daily lives of voters.
