Double Homicide at McDonald’s Parking Lot in France

Two Killed in Shooting at McDonald’s Parking Lot in Marseille, France

A tragic incident unfolded late Saturday in Marseille, France, as a woman and a man in their twenties were shot and killed in a McDonald’s parking lot. According to prosecutors, three others were also injured in the shooting.

The city’s chief prosecutor, Nicolas Bessone, revealed that the victims were inside their car when another vehicle pulled up alongside them. The assailants opened fire with a Kalashnikov assault rifle, fatally shooting the driver and front passenger. Two men and one woman sitting in the backseat sustained serious injuries.

Investigations have revealed that all three men involved in the incident were already known to the police for their involvement in drug-related activities and violence in the region of Toulon, near Marseille. However, the female victim had no criminal record.

The shooting occurred in Marseille’s 16th district, known to be one of the poorest areas of the city. Police are treating the incident as a murder and attempted murder case, possibly linked to a criminal gang.

The wounded victims include a 29-year-old man who was struck in the chest and remains in critical condition, as well as a woman who lost her thumb in the attack.

At the crime scene, authorities discovered shell casings from a 7.62-millimeter ammunition typically used in Kalashnikov rifles. Additionally, a burned-out vehicle, suspected to belong to the shooters, was found near the site of the shooting.

Marseille has been plagued by escalating violence associated with the illegal drug trade in recent years. This incident marks yet another tragic episode, with over 45 deaths already recorded this year alone.
