Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx and Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose are facing accusations of sexual assault in recently filed lawsuits in New York. The suits were filed just before the statute of limitations deadline.
In the case against Axl Rose, actress and model Sheila Kennedy alleges that he sexually assaulted her in 1989 without her consent, leaving her feeling overpowered. The lawsuit against Jamie Foxx, filed by an anonymous woman referred to as Jane Doe, claims that Foxx forcefully touched her inappropriately without her consent at a rooftop bar in Manhattan in 2015.
Both lawsuits are being filed under the New York Adult Survivors Act, a law that allows sexual assault cases from the past to be litigated. Axl Rose, the 61-year-old lead singer of Guns N’ Roses, has yet to publicly comment on the allegations. He was attending the Las Vegas Formula One Grand Prix when the complaint was filed.
According to the complaint, Rose allegedly forced anal sex on Kennedy, who feared physical harm if she resisted. The lawsuit contends that Rose used his fame and power to manipulate and assault Kennedy. Guns N’ Roses is best known for hits such as “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Sweet Child O’ Mine.”
In the case against Jamie Foxx, the accuser claims that the actor grabbed her and pulled her to a secluded area of the rooftop after meeting her at the bar. There, he allegedly groped her until a friend intervened. The plaintiff is seeking a jury trial and punitive damages. The lawsuit states that the plaintiff will be permanently affected by the emotional distress and injuries caused by the assault. Foxx, known for his acting, comedy, and singing career, won an Academy Award in 2005 for his role in the Ray Charles biopic “Ray.”
These lawsuits follow a recent complaint against rapper Sean Combs, also filed under the Adult Survivors Act, by R&B singer Cassie. However, the parties have reached a settlement in that case, the terms of which have not been disclosed.
