Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President JP Nadda accused the Congress government in Chhattisgarh of corruption, claiming that they did not spare even the deity ‘Mahadev’. Nadda made this statement in reference to the Enforcement Directorate’s allegation that Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel received Rs 508 crore from the promoters of the online betting app Mahadev Book. Speaking at a public rally in the poll-bound state, Nadda also accused the chief ministers of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, as well as Congress leader Kamal Nath, of collecting money for the Congress family.
Nadda said, “They (Congress government) have not even spared ‘Mahadev’. They indulge in ‘Satta’ (betting) for power. A person who came from Dubai was arrested here and he said that he brought Rs 800 crore to give to CM Bhupesh Baghel. Do you want such a corrupt government here? Bhupesh Baghel, Ashok Gehlot, and Kamal Nath are collectors of the Congress family. They collect money for them…”
The Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel, questioned the BJP for not banning the app so far, prompting Nadda’s response. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also raised a similar concern, demanding an explanation from the Congress regarding the Enforcement Directorate’s allegations.
The Enforcement Directorate claimed that a person named Asim Das was sent from the UAE to deliver a large amount of cash for the ruling Congress party’s election expenses in Chhattisgarh. Das confessed to the agency that the Mahadev app promoters had paid Rs 508 crore to the Chief Minister.
The counting of votes in Chhattisgarh is scheduled for December 3.
