Kerala Resident Apprehended for Making Bomb Threats against Mumbai Airport

A resident of Kerala has been arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) for making threats to blow up Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport unless he was paid one million US dollars in Bitcoin. The ATS launched an investigation after the airport received a threatening email on Thursday. The email stated that Terminal 2 would be blasted within 48 hours if the requested amount of Bitcoin was not transferred. The Mumbai International Airport Limited registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 385 and 505(1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code. The ATS cyber cell traced the IP address to Kerala and subsequently apprehended the suspect. The accused’s identity has not been disclosed, but they will be handed over to the Sahar Police after being brought to Mumbai.
