On Friday, over 100 flights will be canceled at AUA

The Austrian Airlines Union (AUA) has announced that they will be cancelling over 100 flights on the upcoming Friday due to a crucial company meeting involving their flying staff. As per the latest updates, out of a total of 302 flights that were scheduled for the day, 112 have been cancelled. This unexpected change in the schedule affects over 12,000 passengers, all of whom have been duly informed of this development and have been rebooked on different flights by the airline. The airline, however, still encourages passengers to stay updated and check their flight status on Friday. This sudden disruption in the flight schedule has been caused by a halt in the collective agreement negotiations. Despite eight extensive rounds of discussions, the parties have failed to reach a consensus on the salary agreement.

Passengers are advised to check their flight status

In light of the possibility of further alterations to the flight schedule at a short notice, the airline has advised passengers to stay updated by checking their flight status. They can do so on the official Austrian Airlines website – austrian.com, the airline’s mobile application, or through Travel ID (provided they have registered).

The Bord works council in collaboration with the vida union plan to use the company meeting as a platform to update the employees about the current status of this year’s salary negotiations. The topic of discussion revolves around the collective agreement for both, pilots and flight attendants. Given the prosperous year the aviation industry had coupled with a substantial increase in ticket prices, the union believes that the employees should also reap the benefits in the form of substantial salary increases. The meeting is scheduled to commence at 9 a.m.
