Pakistan Star Confronts ‘Maro Mujhe Maro’ Man for His ‘Burger, Pizza’ Rant

Pakistan fan Momin Saqib gained attention during the 2019 World Cup for his spirited support for his team, despite their disappointing performance against India. Saqib, who was studying in London at the time, traveled to Manchester with his brother to watch the match. Unfortunately for Pakistan, India emerged victorious in the rain-affected game.

After the defeat, Saqib expressed his frustration by accusing the Pakistani players of indulging in street food, specifically burgers and pizza, the day before the match. He even went as far as to suggest that they should quit cricket and take up wrestling instead. Some players were also accused of smoking a hookah before the game.

Imam-ul-Haq, one of the Pakistani players in the team during the tournament, has now shed light on Saqib’s remarks. Imam revealed that he had confronted Saqib about his comments. “When we lost to India during the 2019 World Cup, there was a report in the media that me, Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik, and Wahab Riaz were having hookah before the match. Then Momin Saqib said that these guys were having burgers and pizza. I had confronted Momin over the same. He is a good guy, and he might’ve said it in a joking way, but I was pretty angry at that time,” Imam said.

Imam went on to clarify the truth behind the report, stating that it was actually him and Hasan Ali who had bought the burgers. “We were in Manchester, and after the training session, we were pretty tired. At that time, our bowling coach, Azhar Mehmood, was with us. He has three daughters, so we went to get the burgers for them,” Imam added.

In a similar fashion to 2019, India recently defeated Pakistan in the World Cup held in India, this time under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. Despite the disappointment, Pakistan fans like Momin Saqib continue to support their team passionately.
