The Indian cricket team fell short in their quest for victory at the Cricket World Cup 2023, as they lost to Australia by 6 wickets in the final match held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday. Prime Minister Modi was in attendance at the stadium, hoping to witness the end of India’s 12-year wait for the ODI World Cup. However, it was Pat Cummins’ Australian team that emerged victorious, leaving the host country disappointed. Observing the dejection on the faces of players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, PM Modi joined them in the Indian team’s dressing room, aiming to uplift their spirits.

During his visit, PM Modi engaged in conversations with several players, including Kohli, Rohit, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Mohammed Shami. He expressed his support and encouraged them to stay positive, acknowledging their remarkable performance throughout the tournament.

Addressing the team, PM Modi said, “You have won ten consecutive games, and this one loss is normal, it happens. Please smile, the entire country is watching you. I thought I should come and meet you all.”

In a lighthearted moment with Ravindra Jadeja, the Prime Minister exchanged words in Gujarati, eliciting laughter from both of them. He also commended Mohammed Shami, who finished the tournament as the top wicket-taker, saying, “Well done Shami. You played really well this time.”

PM Modi then turned to Jasprit Bumrah and asked, “Do you speak Gujarati?” Bumrah replied, “Little bit.”

Continuing in the video, PM Modi praised the team’s hard work and urged them to continue motivating each other. He extended an invitation for a future meeting in Delhi, saying, “When you are free and visit Delhi, I will sit together with all of you. You are all cordially invited from my side.”

The Indian cricket team had an impressive run in the World Cup, remaining unbeaten in ten consecutive matches before their defeat by Australia in the final.
