17 Years Later, Man Arrested for Killing Beggar to Stage His Own Death and Claim Rs 80 Lakh Insurance

A man from Uttar Pradesh has been apprehended in Ahmedabad after living under a new identity for 17 years. The man, identified as Anilsingh Vijaypalsingh Chaudhary, allegedly murdered a beggar with the assistance of his family members in order to stage his own death and claim insurance money worth Rs 80 lakh. The arrest was made by the crime branch officials based on a specific tip-off.

Anilsingh Chaudhary, who originally hails from Bhatta-Parsaul village in Gautam Buddha Nagar district, was found residing in Ahmedabad’s Nikol area under the name Rajkumar Chaudhry. The incident dates back to July 31, 2006, when a car driver named Anilsingh Chaudhary, as identified by his father, died in a fire caused by a car accident. An accidental death report was filed by the Rakabganj police station in Agra at the time.

Recent information received by the Ahmedabad crime branch indicated that Anilsingh Chaudhary was alive and living under a new identity. Following his arrest, Chaudhary confessed to conspiring with his father to fake his death and claim the insurance money. The plan involved Chaudhary taking out an accidental death insurance policy in 2004 and purchasing a car.

Chaudhary and his family members enticed a beggar, known for begging in trains, by offering him food. They then drugged the beggar at a hotel near Agra and placed him in their car. Intentionally crashing the vehicle into an electricity pole, they staged the incident as an accident. The beggar was placed in the driver’s seat and the car was set on fire to make it appear as though the fire was a result of the crash.

After receiving his share of the insurance money, Anilsingh Chaudhary moved to Ahmedabad in 2006 and never returned to his hometown in Uttar Pradesh. He assumed the name Rajkumar Chaudhry and obtained a driving license and an Aadhaar card under this new identity. To sustain himself, Chaudhary acquired an auto-rickshaw and later purchased a car on loan.

In order to avoid detection, Chaudhary refrained from contacting his family members or returning to his native village in Uttar Pradesh. He will now be handed over to the Uttar Pradesh police for further legal proceedings.
