A Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Ohio recently welcomed a pair of Amur tiger cubs, as announced by the zoo on November 17. The zoo shared a heartwarming video on Facebook, capturing the newborn cubs snuggled up with their mother.
Zoo officials revealed that the cubs were born on November 6 to parents Zoya and Hector. Although their gender remains unknown, the zoo plans to conduct a physical examination once the cubs reach eight weeks of age.
The Cleveland Zoo emphasized the critical importance of the initial days after birth, as it is a crucial bonding period for the mother and her cubs. They reported that Zoya is taking excellent care of her babies.
Amur tigers are classified as an endangered species, with only approximately 500 remaining in their native habitat in the far eastern region of Russia and northeastern China.
The birth of these tiger cubs brings hope for the conservation of this endangered species.
