In Lower Saxony, a grave incident has transpired. As per the Police, there have been shootings at two separate locations: one in Scheeßel and the other in Bothel, both of which are located in the Rotenburg district.
Tragically, a shooting incident claimed the lives of four individuals in the German state of Lower Saxony. The police were summoned in the twilight hours of the day following an emergency call from a residence in Scheeßel, reporting a shooting. The officers promptly arrived at the scene, secured the perimeter around the building, and proceeded to storm the premises. Upon entering the house, they found, as they put it, “several victims”. As per reports from German media outlets, the death toll from the incident includes 4 individuals, one of them being a child.
Even as morning broke, the situation at the scene remained fraught with tension: The nearby Rotenburg train station, among other places, saw the deployment of armed security forces with submachine guns, and several residential buildings had been cordoned off. As dawn approached, an announcement was made that the suspected perpetrator had surrendered himself and was subsequently taken into custody: the suspect is reported to be a soldier from the Bundeswehr. At this moment, a police operation is also being carried out at the von Düring barracks in Rotenburg. As per the police, there were two ‘crime scenes’ connected to this incident: one at the Westervesede house in Scheeßel and the other in Bothel, in the Rotenburg district.
