Another Fire Breaks Out Under Different Freeway in Los Angeles
In the wake of the massive blaze that destroyed a portion of the 10 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles, another fire erupted under a separate freeway. Commuters near the interchange of the 105 and 110 freeways in South Los Angeles reported active flames around 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
Footage captured by Sky5 revealed a patch of land burning next to the transition ramp between the eastbound 105 and southbound 110, near residences on a dead-end street. KTLA 5’s Rich Prickett reported that the fire seemed to have originated from an encampment and spread to nearby vegetation.
Prickett noted that the blaze had significantly less fuel compared to the previous fire that caused the indefinite closure of the 10 Freeway. This made it easier for firefighters to tackle the flames on Tuesday morning. He also mentioned that the firefighters had quick access to the area, enabling them to swiftly deploy hose lines to combat the fire.
Traffic on the 105 freeway started to slow down, and Caltrans workers were observed on the shoulder of the road, attempting to contain the fire from a better angle. Nearby residents stepped outside their homes and apartments to witness the fire.
The hose lines used by firefighters crossed over train tracks, but there were no trains in sight, and no delays were announced. By 7:15 a.m., the fire was under control, and no injuries were reported.
